Supervising Research Attorney

Los Angeles Superior Court

I seek appointment as a Superior Court judge because the position allows me to serve the Los Angeles community. My personal and professional efforts are guided by helping others obtain equal access to various opportunities in society. Most of my legal career I have worked to determine the appropriate legal result, not necessarily the preferred result of a particular party.

After graduating college, I taught seventh and eighth grade school social studies in the South Bronx. Of my 120 total students, a small number read near or above grade level, most were one to three years behind, and some were four years or more behind. My lesson plans, instruction, and assignments were for all students, differentiated and universal at the same time. All these students required my attention at once but at the same time I wanted to make each of them feel as if I was hearing and speaking to them individually while moving the curriculum forward. While I left teaching, I have continued to volunteer with high school students for the last nine years with Minds Matter to provide students with resources to assist them in high school and as they prepare for college and professional careers.

In 2007 I graduated from the University of Oregon magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Political Science and Psychology. I then joined Teach for America and was placed in New York City. I taught seventh and eighth grade social studies. In 2012 I graduated from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. I then worked in San Francisco for a boutique business litigation law firm.

In 2015 I joined Los Angeles Superior Court as a law clerk. I was assigned to two Independent Calendar departments in the Stanley Mosk Courthouse. In 2017 I was selected among term law clerks for permanent status with the Court as a research attorney. And in 2018 I was promoted to my current position as a supervising research attorney. In this position, among other tasks, I supervise 15-20 law clerks and research attorneys to ensure Superior Court judicial officers receive timely and competent legal research for law and motion calendars. I also assist with addressing judicial complaints and the Chief Deputy with various legal research questions.
